Jordan Brand is set to release the 40th edition of the Air Jordan sneakers on July 12. With the upcoming release of the sneaker brand's newest flagship hoops shoe, Jordan Brand athlete Kiefer Ravena spoke highly of the Air Jordan 40s' comfortable, sleek, and simple design. Players who competed during the Manila Qualifiers of Jordan Brand's "The One" basketball tournament were the first to try out the soon-to-be-released Air Jordan sneakers.

"Sobrang okay niya sa paa. You know, the design is very sleek, very simple, not a lot of detail to it, but the story behind it. 40 versions of [Air] Jordan, which catered to the people," Ravena said with excitement in an exclusive interview with Sporty Noob. "I’m sure they’ll love the shoe once it comes out. To all the hoopers there, you know, you’ll appreciate the comfort, the style, and the uniqueness of the 40th shoe of Brand Jordan."

Kiefer Ravena: 'I get to do it with one of my most loved brands ever since I was a kid'

Kiefer Ravena became the first Filipino basketball player to sign with Jordan Brand. After a three-year stint with the Shiga Lakes in the Japan B.League, Ravena then took his talents to Japan's Kanto region and signed with the Yokohama B-Corsairs.

During his first season with the Yokohama B-Corsairs, Ravena rocked his very own pair of Air Jordan XXXIX PE (Player Exclusive). The former Ateneo Blue Eagle says he's proud to be the first Filipino athlete to get a PE from the sneaker brand, and he rocked Jordans since he was a kid. Kiefer even recalled the time he wore matching Air Jordan sneakers with his dad, Bong Ravena, a former basketball player and current assistant coach of the TNT Tropang 5G in the PBA.

"Siyempre very proud, you know. I was the first one ever to have a PE [Player Exclusive], not only did I get to do it with one of my most loved brands ever since I was a kid," Ravena said. "Growing up, kung hindi ako nagkakamali, alam ko young [Air] Jordan yung pinaka una kong sapatos na terno kami ng dad ko. So, it‘s a story in itself. Just being able to represent the country and be the first Filipino that gets a PE from Jordan [Brand]."
