Manila's Finest Crowned At Jordan Brand's 'The One' Qualifier

(Press Release)
MANILA, Philippines – The fierce spirit of one-on-one basketball blazed brightly last Saturday as the Jordan Brand "The One" Manila Qualifier concluded at the Jordan Manila Flight Deck in BGC, Taguig City. After an intense day of competition featuring 12 boys and 12 girls from across the Philippines, two exceptional young athletes emerged victorious, earning the coveted title of "The One" and the honor of representing the Philippines on the global stage.
The atmosphere was electric as all the players showcased their 1-on-1 skills, embodying the "Jumpman" spirit of relentless pursuit and defiance. Spectators witnessed incredible crossovers, clutch shots, and unwavering determination from start to finish.
Gilas youth player Bonn Earvin Daja of De La Salle Zobel and UST Junior Growling Tigress Rhiane Perez came out on top for the Boys’ and Girls’ Divisions. They will now represent the Philippines and advance to The One global finals in New York this August, where they'll compete against the best one-on-one hoopers from over 15 cities worldwide, including Belgrade, Chicago, Hong Kong, Paris, and Tokyo.
"Today's Manila qualifier truly showcased the incredible talent and competitive spirit of young Filipino athletes," said Jino Ferrer, Nike Country Marketing Head. "These winners embody 'The One' mentality, and we're thrilled to support them as they continue their journey to chase greatness in New York. We’re all eager to see them bring the Pinoy brand of basketball to the global stage."
Local Sounds Crowned in DJ Battle
The energy wasn't just on the court! The event also culminated in a highly anticipated one-on-one DJ battle, showcasing the vibrant talent from Manila's local music and club scene. After a showdown of mixes and beats, DJ Sky Dominique was crowned the champion. This exciting segment added another layer of true basketball culture to the day.
“In this year’s The One, not just young ballers will compete in NYC, we are also excited to provide one Filipino DJ the chance to battle it out and showcase his musical creativity and talent against the best DJs in the world,” added Jino.
Just as Michael Jordan's legendary one-on-one battles against his brother Larry forged a legacy of greatness, "The One" tournament continues to inspire the next generation to take their turn and define what's next.
Bonn Daja and Rhiane Perez will spend the time waiting for the completion of the global qualifiers by honing their skills and getting better so they can compete at their best for the ultimate title of “The One.”
